Leadership in Educational Technology
About Me
- Name: Brigitte Melton
- Location: Gainesville, Virginia, United States
Education has always been a passion of mine. I knew that Mary Washington used to be a Teachers College. When I found out about the nascent Instructional Technology program, I dove in. This is why I probably often feel that I am in above my head! I have taken seven courses in the program, one of which was online: Information Literacy in the Digital Age. It was my first real online course and I learned more in that class than I have in many face-to-face classes. I liked that I could go online 24/7 to make my comments. I sometimes do my best thinking in the middle of the night! I am looking forward to learning a lot in ITEC 522, my second online course in the program so far. I have found some excellent websites to share with my students. I created a WebQuest (through the online courses mentioned above). That was a real challenge! I am always sharing ideas for integrating computers in courses with my colleagues. So, in a way, I am already a leader in Instructional Technology at my school. Sadly, there are only a handful of us. But, it'a start. I'm sowing the seeds and believe in the bounty of future harvests!
